“Don’t underestimate Rhode Island’s passion for pickleball due to its diminutive size. The smallest state in the US has developed a rapidly growing appetite for the sport. Currently home to just 33 courts, the Ocean State has seen a 200% increase in pickleball demand within the past year.”

Rhode Island has a vibrant pickleball community, and Newport has some of the best groups anywhere. At Newport Pickleball our mission is to foster a vibrant, inclusive community around the fastest-growing sport in America—pickleball! We aim to offer an exceptional playing experience for players of all ages and skill levels, right here in the world-renowned city of Newport, Rhode Island.
Who We Are
Hunter Park is not just a park; it’s a hub of energy, camaraderie, and competition. Our pickleball courts are some of the most frequented facilities in Newport’s Parks & Rec system. Whether you’re a local resident, a curious beginner, or an experienced player from another corner of the globe, you’ll find a welcoming community and top-notch facilities here.
Our Community
Newport, Rhode Island, known for its rich history, stunning Gilded Age architecture, and scenic beaches, is now also becoming famous for its enthusiastic pickleball community. Our courts are primarily populated by local residents, but we’re thrilled to frequently host players from around the world.
Why Pickleball?
Pickleball is more than a sport; it’s a lifestyle. It’s a game that brings people together, encourages healthy competition, and promotes physical well-being. Here at Hunter Park, the most common sounds you’ll hear are the bounce of the ball, the tap of paddles, and, most importantly, laughter and cheer.
Facilities
Our courts are regulation size, well-maintained, and are situated in the idyllic setting of Hunter Park, making them the perfect place to enjoy a game or two. Given their popularity, we’re also advocating for the addition of more courts to meet demand and reduce wait times.
We Hear You
We are aware of the concerns raised about the noise generated from the courts and are actively working with the city council and the trees and open spaces commission to find mutually beneficial solutions that will respect the rights and enjoyment of surrounding property owners, and allow the players ample space and facilities to play.
Join us and be part of Newport’s exciting pickleball movement and we’ll keep you updated on Newport Pickleball news!
